Thanks for Coming!

Thanks to all of the members who came out and brought their kids to this year's Youth Event at Bartlett Station! We had kids of all ages, and plenty of food and fun.  Everyone had a great time celebrating youth. We even received an email from a member saying:

"Great job on the Youth Event!  My children had a blast! WONDERFUL setup and activities!  Keep up the good work! Thank you all!"

Thanks for the words of encouragement, Sherrell! We're so glad you and your kids enjoyed it!

And for those of you who couldn't make it, here are some photos of the fun - Come on out next year and celebrate with us!

Get to Know Your CU - Heather B.

Since I am the one who subjected a good portion of our employees to my silly interviews and then posted them on the internet, I thought it would only be fair to do one myself, so here is one between me and …myself.

Just a little intro… My name is Heather and I am the Marketing Specialist here at MHFCU. All the pretty little postcards, newsletters, emails, etc. that you see are made by me – and I love it. I graduated from Rhodes College in May 2011 and found out that I got this job the day before I walked across the stage and moved my tassel over – Talk about good timing!

To tell you a little about me, I am a chocoholic to the point that I may actually need to go to meetings, I have recently taken up kickboxing (and LOVE IT), and I am addicted to the “______ with Friends” series of word games on the iPhone. I am also absolutely obsessed with music.

What has been your favorite MHFCU moment so far?

My favorite moment so far was doing the giveaways at the Annual Meeting… Even though I didn’t win anything!

What is your favorite service offered at MHFCU?

I think that my favorite services are our Christmas & Vacation Club Accounts, because it’s always nice to check FOCUS one day and realize “Hey, I have $500 in that account!” It’s like those times when you find $20 in your jeans pocket – Awesome.

What are some of your hobbies?

Reading, Kickboxing, Sleeping, Going to concerts…

What is your favorite type of music?

I don’t know that I have a favorite “type” but some of my favorite artists right now are Fun., Matt Nathanson, Andy Grammer, & Jason Mraz, among many, MANY others.

What is your favorite thing about Memphis?

Memphis is where I learned to like BBQ, so that’s great and yummy. It’s also the kind of city where there’s always something going on, and I love that.

Heels or flats?

Depends on what I’m doing/where I’m going…

Watch a movie/TV or listen to music?

Listen to music. Definitely.

Phone call or text message?

I’m a textaholic, but sometimes you just can’t replace a good ol’ phone call.

Bank or Credit Union?

CREDIT UNION > BANK

Would you rather...

..be 3 feet tall or 9 feet tall?

Probably 9 feet tall. Too many limitations with being too short.

..be a kid your whole life, or be an adult your whole life?

Adult. I’d hate to miss out on falling in love, getting married, having my own kids, etc.

..always say everything on your mind, or never speak again?

Never speak again. I’m a pretty private person – I don’t want everyone knowing what I’m thinking at ALL times!

When you were a kid, what was your favorite cartoon?

I was a big fan of Doug, Rugrats, Ahh! Real Monsters, & Hey Arnold. Oh 90’s cartoons – they were the best!

If someone were to write your biography, what would you want the title be?

“Immortal Cats, Crazy Exes, & Other Tales From A 20-Something”

What was the last song the radio ruined for you?

Anything and everything by Adele. So talented, but so over-played.

I am SO thankful that, within the world of financial services, I work at a Credit Union and not a Bank (I’m shameless, I know)! But in all honesty, it feels so good to be able to tell people that we really DO have FREE checking (emphasis on the ‘Free’), and that our debit cards DON’T come with fees, AND that we’re not big fans of those tricky hidden fees either, so we just don’t have ‘em.

If you’re not a member, check us out! I promise we have everything your current bank has… except better. And with less fees! And if you ARE a member, we’re so glad to have you! Be sure you tell all your friends who are still bank customers that life is better at MHFCU. Here, you’re a member; there, you’re just another customer.
